Our School

Principal’s Welcome

St Paul Lutheran School is a place close to my heart. As a long-term staff member and parent of the school, it is an honour to serve the community as its current Principal.

To truly understand who we are, we urge you to visit us and see our facilities and more importantly, our education program in action. Prioritising the needs of our children is where all decisions start at St Paul Lutheran School. From a deep appreciation of play to a whole school language around emotional regulation, we recognise how children develop, grow and thrive.

As a Lutheran School, St Paul Lutheran School has a ministry and mission focus. In our ministry to others, we share and live the good news of Jesus’ saving grace to our community. In addition, we have a mission focused on providing the best education and care to children and families of every background and faith in a culture of mutual respect and openness.

We look forward to meeting you and your family!

Leila Mattner,
Principal

Our Values

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Timothy 3:16-17

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, to bring praise to God.

Romans 15:7

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Corinthians 10:31

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Luke 6:31

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and truth.

John 3:18

So that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Titus 3:7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.

Corinthians 13:4-8a

All God’s people here send their greetings.

Corinthians 13:13

Our Story

St Paul Lutheran School opened in 1973 under the guidance of St Paul Lutheran Church with 23 students and two teachers, in the upper room of the church complex.

From these humble beginnings, our school has grown over the years to accommodate approximately 300 children in 14 classes, two classes at each year level from Reception to Year 6.

Beginning with a small building added onto the church, several classrooms and an administration office were built.

Additional land was acquired and since then, St Paul Lutheran School has undergone several significant building developments to meet the demand for additional learning spaces, including new classrooms, a comprehensive library and a dedicated art room.

A intentional redesign to all classrooms has ensured that our classrooms are contemporary, calming spaces for children, with as much access and visibility to the outdoors as possible.

Continuous enhancements are made to ensure our school provides exemplary resources, programs and opportunities for our children.

Our Facilities

Library

Our spacious Library is in the heart of the school. This boasts an up-to-date and comprehensive resource collection, available to children and families before, during, and after school. Our library software program allows children of all ages to browse the catalogue from any location with any device. The library is also open during playtime for all children to enjoy.

Performing Arts Centre

St Paul Lutheran School offers a well-equipped centre with a full-sized stage, modern lighting and sound for rehearsals and performances including school concerts and participation in larger events such as the SA Schools Challenge. Children can participate in the school choir and Chapel Band, as well as receive individual music lessons during school hours. Instrumental lessons available include violin, piano, drums, and guitar.

Sports

The school offers tennis, netball, and basketball courts on the school grounds. Barton Reserve is utilised daily to provide our children with an expansive outdoor facility. In addition, our hall provides valuable all-weather indoor space for physical activity. Sports currently on offer are Basketball, Swimming, Netball and Soccer.

Worship Centre

Under our main roof, St Paul Lutheran Church provides a dedicated space for worship. Our children access the church for regular weekly Chapel, as an extension to our classroom learning areas, and as an additional meeting space for assemblies and presentations.
